5 Party Cleaning Hacks For The Holiday Season

It’s that time of the year again. The time to have fun with your loved ones. Lots of good times, delicious food, fine wine and family banter.

But with a great party, comes great responsibility - and that is cleaning.

That’s why we have compiled of list of 5 Party Cleaning Hacks, so you can save those dollars on after-party cleaning services.

1.  Organise the party outside your house

We’re so fortunate to have Christmas during summer in this part of the world. Well, you can’t imagine having an outdoor Xmas party in New York or London. But down under? Yes, please!

There’s a strategic reason behind keeping the fun outdoors. It’s a proactive way to prevent spills from occurring inside your house in the first place. You don’t have to worry about your cousin spilling beer on your carpet or the kids rubbing their unwashed hands on your sofa after a sumptuous meal.

Also, when your guests walk inside your home with their shoes on - they might bring those extra germs and stains with them. You can easily prevent this by bringing the party on the deck. 2.  Stick to (eco-friendly) disposable dining ware

You can use disposable dining ware. It’s fine. No one will take it personally, because they’d all be in holiday spirits and just delighted to finally be with their loved ones. What’s more? Nothing screams party like disposable dining ware. The sight of party plates and a huge pile of serviettes, not to mention a whole lot of naughty food, will let your guests know that it’s party time!

The best part is - you won’t even have to turn the dishwasher on, because all the used plates and spoons can happily go into the bin. Try to stick to the biodegradable options. You don’t want to send a whole lot of plastic into the landfill.

See how hassle-free this can be? Disposable dining ware is the smartest way to reduce your cleaning tasks.

3.  Make bins clearly visible and label them

God knows how many wine and beer bottles are going to get accumulated by the end of the night. Again, it’s summer during Christmas here - just another excuse to crack some extra cold ones open. Also, you’re going to have those single-use plates piled up along with a whole lot of used serviettes, not to mention that extra food which will go into the bin (because the fridge is full). After all, it’s party time and that’s how it supposed to be, right?

That’s why it’s necessary that you shift the bins from where you keep them usually and place them somewhere your guests can easily see and access them. Label landfill and recycle as usual. By the time your guests are gone, all you would have to do is place the bins outside for collection. And of course, you wouldn’t have to hire any after-party clean up service.

4.  Buy containers for leftover food in advance

It’s so hard to throw away the party food, right? Because it’s so delicious. All that pizza, quiche, garlic bread, fries, cake, pavlova and other mouth-watering foods that remind us of the good times. Before your guests even leave, your bins will be filled and probably won’t have any more room for leftover food. But why chuck it in the bin if you can eat it later?

Putting the leftover pizza in the same cardboard box it got delivered in or having cake openly placed without a lid, will make your fridge look unorganised, and this will cause unnecessary stress. It’s true - an unclean space and stress are interrelated. Read more about this in our Tidy Home, Tidy Mind blog.

What’s the best way to store the leftover food then? Get some containers. They won’t cost more than 30 bucks for multiple containers and are easily available in your local supermarket or online. Hand your guests some containers to put leftovers in to take home. Or otherwise donate it to someone who needs it. Or if it will freeze well then you could put it in the freezer for another time.

5.  Have the right cleaning products ready

Well, if you follow all the tips mentioned above, you probably won’t even have any spills or stains. But if you do end up having spills, don’t worry - if you act promptly, they won’t be an issue.

Rug Doctor has two different stain removal products that are specially formulated for different stains. Because not all stains require the same treatment for removal. Each product is PH balanced to treat each type of stain individually.

Did you know? There are different cleaning methods and products for different types of stains. You cannot clean coffee stains and grease stains using the same product because they are constituted of different elements.
